The Head of the department is directly responsible to the Deputy Headteacher or Assistant Headteacher allocated as a line manager, and also the Deputy Headteacher, Student Progress for aspects pertaining to student progress.

- Demonstrate experience of middle leadership responsibilities, including quality assurance processes
- Demonstrate a clear and well-thought-out understanding of current educational issues, theory and practice.
- Have detailed knowledge of the relevant aspects of the students’ National Curriculum and other statutory requirements.
