GSL Education working with a Primary School in Blackburn, searching for a Teaching Assistant to assist with interventions. This is a thrilling time to be joining the school, as they are looking to increase their ever-growing team of highly dedicated Teachers and Support Staff.

The role will require you to support both the teacher and the pupils, as well as become involved in the extracurricular activities of the school.

Main Duties

  • To work with identified pupils and small groups of pupils under the supervision of the teacher including the implementation of ILPs and EHCPs and the keeping of up to date records of interventions.
  • Give daily feedback on pupil progress to the class teacher and update supporting documents
    as and when needed.
  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.
  • Attend to pupils' personal needs, including pastoral, social, health, physical hygiene, minor
    first aid and welfare matters.

Support for Teachers

  • To work closely under the guidance of the teacher/SENDCo as required, with therapists, and
    other outside agencies, so that their advice and practice are integrated into additional provision.
  • Prepare the classroom for lessons, including the displaying of work under the direction of the teacher and supporting the development of continuous provision.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • At least a Level 2 qualification in Supporting and Learning
  • A full year supporting with a full class is desirable
  • Creative, Passionate and Fun
  • Passionate to grow and develop
  • Valid DBS registered with the update service, or be prepared to apply for a new one
  • Be able to provide references (Work or University based) covering the last two years
  • Phonics experience is also desirable, however training will be given

The role:

  • To plan, deliver and assess engaging, creative and practical lessons to instil a love of learning in all pupils regardless of their individual needs
  • Differentiate for the SEN child in the class (Autism with an EHCP)
  • Liaise with SLT, the TA and various members of internal and external members of staff
  • Provide constructive feedback when assessing

The Candidate will:

  • Must have QTS
  • A solid understanding of the National Curriculum and the aims within
  • Be able to develop the whole child and not just the academic side
  • Have a DBS or be willing to get one
  • Have a solid understanding of Safeguarding
  • Be able to provide work or university-based references covering the last two years

The Roles

· Teachers - To plan and deliver engaging, inclusive and creative lessons for all subjects within the National Curriculum across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.

· Teaching Assistants – Experience supporting children on a 1:1 basis or within groups; if HLTA experience in delivering a lesson plan to a full class.

The Candidate

· Teachers will hold QTS or other UK recognised teaching qualification.

· Recent experience as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support between EYFS – KS2 or hold at least a Level 2 Teaching and Learning qualification.

· Having a subject specialism would be ideal.
