Teaching Assistant
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Salary Scale: £83 – £100 per day
Start Date: ASAP
Nature of Employment: Part-Time, 0.6FTE, Wednesday to Friday
GSL Education are currently looking to appoint Teaching Assistants towork atanoutstanding secondary school located in York, North Yorkshire starting as soon as possible.

- The school currently works with students who have a wide range of additional needs, such as dyslexia, physical disabilities, issues with speech, language, and communication, conditions on the autism spectrum, more general learning difficulties, individuals with rare syndromes, impairments to hearing and vision, and attention deficit disorders.
General Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- The successful candidate will work alongside class teachers of KS1 and KS2 and other key staff and external agencies to support outstanding education delivery.
- Building rapport with young people and creating an inclusive environment for young people will be key to the job role.
- Working directly with the class teachers to help students reach their maximum potential by providing support, motivation, and encouragement.
- Support students both inside and outside of the classroom on a 1:1 and small group basis.
- In terms of group support, help facilitate group discussions, guide group work, or assist with group projects.
- During group activities, ensure that students stay on task, collaborate effectively, and resolve conflicts if they arise.
General Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Have prior experience working as a Teaching Assistant or as an Education Practitioner.
- Be confident in managing behaviour within a school setting, using de-escalation techniques where appropriate.
- Be aware of and knowledgeable about different additional needs such as ASC, ADHD, MLD and SEMH.
- Be able to quickly establish positive relationships.
- Have good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Hold an Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for a new one with GSL Education.
