Special Needs Teaching Assistant - Scarborough
GSL Education are seeking to employ a Special Needs Teaching Assistant for an inclusive School in Scarborough. This is a full time post to start as soon as possible, until the end of the academic year. For the right candidate, there is the possibility of the position becoming permanent.

Minimum Candidate Requirements:
  • 12 months experience working in a Special Needs School, or SEN department of a School
  • Hold a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or higher; alternative qualifications within Education will be accepted
  • Have experience supporting young people with autism, speech, language and communication needs, profound and multiple learning difficulties and social, emotional and mental health needs
  • Be able to provide a 6 year career history with references from your 2 most recent employers
  • Hold a Child Only DBS on the update service, or be willing to apply for a new one with GSL Education
The Job Role:
  • To support a class of Primary aged pupils with PMLD and SLCN
  • Communicate with pupils through the use of PECs and Makaton
  • Provide a safe and stimulating learning environment for all learners
  • Support the delivery of all lessons, providing 1:1 and small group support as per the Teacher's directions
  • Take part in whole School life, including staff training and parent's evenings
