Job Title: Sports Coach – SEMH Experience

Location: Birmingham

Pay rate: £90-£95 per day (Depending on experience)

Start Date: Immediate

Time: Hours 8.30 am – 3.30 pm – Monday to Friday.

Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are hiring an experienced Sports Coach (with SEMH experience) to work in a welcoming school in Birmingham, supporting students through structured physical activities in a nurturing and well-managed environment. As a Sports Coach, you will use sport as a positive tool to engage students, promote teamwork, and help them develop confidence, resilience, and self-regulation skills.

Key Duties:

  • Plan and deliver structured sports sessions tailored to students with SEMH needs.
  • Build positive relationships to encourage engagement and participation.
  • Promote emotional regulation, teamwork, and respectful behaviour through sport.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment at all times.
  • Work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to support individual student plans.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Sports Coach with SEMH students is essential.
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
  • A patient, calm, and empathetic approach.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for a new one).
