Numeracy & LIteracy Support

GSL Education are seeking teaching assistants to work with primary pupils who require support in subject areas such as Numeracy & Literacy; in particular to work with children within year 2 and year 6 in the build up to their SATs.  The role entails supporting pupils, who have been identified as under achieving, on both an intensive 1:1 basis and with groups of pupils who have a similar level of ability or attainment in the relevant subject area.  This will usually mean spending no more than 1 hour per day with each pupil or group of pupils, following an agreed plan of work in order to help the child grasp particluar cocepts, worth through the ares they need support with and increase their attainment overall.

Schools across Leicester and Leicestershire county have already begun organising the type of intervention they would like to do and we have roles available to start after the half term break.

This type of role will suit Teaching Assistants with a good understanding of the national curriculum or graduates within English and Maths who may be seeking a temporary role or simply wishing to make a direct tangible difference to pupils in a short space of time.

Pay rates will be based on a competitive daily rate or pro rata for any half day period, for example.

Responsibilities:

  • To report to the Nursery Owner and follow responsibility for the daily running and administration of the nursery

The school itself is an excellent school with an extremely welcoming and supportive staff.  It is an all-through provision supporting learners with a range of special needs including Autism, Severe Learning Difficulties, Speech & Language Communicational Needs, Moderate Learning Difficulties and Hearing Impairment.  Some of the learners exhibit challenging behaviour and therefore Team Teach training, or good experience of supporting learners such as this, is preferable though not always essential.

As the school is still growing their number of learners on roll and will continue to do so over the next few years, longer term assignments will be available as will opportunities to apply for permanent roles, should that be desired.

GSL Education is currently recruiting for Speech & Language Professionals to work, initially, on an ad-hoc basis for one of our large SEND clients in central Leicester.  The role will entail supporting the class teacher and working with a variety of pupils, across the primary age range, within classes of no more than 10 pupils.  

The school itself is an excellent school with an extremely welcoming and supportive staff.  It is an all-through provision supporting learners with a range of special needs including Autism, Severe Learning Difficulties, Speech & Language Communicational Needs, Moderate Learning Difficulties and Hearing Impairment.  Some of the learners exhibit challenging behaviour and therefore Team Teach training, or good experience of supporting learners such as this, is preferable though not always essential.

As the school is still growing their number of learners on roll and will continue to do so over the next few years, longer term assignments will be available as will opportunities to apply for permanent roles, should that be desired.

We welcome applicants who have a qualification in Speech & Language, BSL, Makaton and PECs, however proven experience without the qualification can be just as valuable.

GSL Education are currently looking for a qualified Welfare Officer to join a high achieving secondary school graded ‘GOOD’ by OFSTED. This is a temporary role starting ASAP.

The role is at a mixed secondary school in the borough of Enfield where employees are valued and developed. The academic achievement of the school in terms of both attainment and progress has been very good. The school has an outstanding track record for teaching students in an innovative way and this has an impressive impact on achievement. It is a school with passionate teachers and students who develop a strong sense of pride in their association with the school.

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Ensure data, including student records, training records and car permits, is correctly and accurately entered onto SIMS in a uniform way.
  • Must have experience as a Welfare Officer.
  • Previous experience of working with children, First Aid and clerical work.
  • Sensitive and understanding telephone skills.
  • Assisting with SIMS updates as required.
  • Knowledge of Office Packages and Computer literate.
  • Greeting visitors
  • Inputting invoices as required using SIMS, FMS
  • Must have up to date First Aid Certificate

GSL Education Leicester are currently working with?fantastic Special Schools in and around Leicestershire. We are currently recruiting for Residential support workers for morning and afternoon shift patterns.  

The schools/Residential homes cater for children and young people with SEMH, Autism and Challenging Behaviour.  

Starting ASAP and can potentially become permanent for the right person.  

Your daily responsibilities will include:  

  • Supporting the Students Before and after school  

  • Supporting with Homework and extra- curricular activities  

  • To support students who may require assistance during the night or day (depending on shift pattern)  

  • Help students with day to day skills  

The ideal candidate will have: 

  • A hard-working, energetic and flexible nature 

  • Clear communication skills 

  • A calm, understanding and consistent approach to working with children 

  • Knowledge of Autism, SEMH, ADHD and Challenging Behaviour.  

  • Ideally Team Teach trained.  

  • Own Transport (Essential)  

  • DBS on update service (Can apply through GSL if not on update service)  

Experienced TAs/LSAs, support workers, security/ children's secure provision practitioners, ex prison service officers, as well as sports coaches will be considered for this role. 

The schools are looking to trial candidates immediately.
