GSL Education is working with several schools across Greater Manchester to provide 1:1 Tuition to pupils in Primary, Secondary and SEND education. This would take place either in the school environment or in the students’ home.

We have immediate assignments in Salford, North Manchester, Rochdale, Oldham and Stockport for English, Maths, Science and History tuition.

Job Description:

Your role is to assess, plan and then deliver effective tutoring - usually once a week. The purpose of this is to provide interventions or boosters for SATs or GCSEs and really aim to raise their levels of progress. Some of these pupils are extremely vulnerable, therefore empathy and a nurturing approach is essential for this role.

This post would suit:

· An undergraduate or post-graduate student looking for experience in order to start PGCE in September.

· A qualified teacher or lecturer who has some spare time to help students in need.

Qualifications

· Primary Tutors: Minimum of GCSE Maths & English (grade A), however a teaching qualification is preferred.

· GCSE Tutors: Minimum of A-level (grade A) in chosen subject, although a teaching qualification is desirable

· A-level Tutors: Minimum of 1 year of degree course completed in chosen subject.

Person Specifications:

· A full year tutoring experience is desirable

· Creative, Passionate and Fun

· Passionate to grow and develop as an educator

· Valid DBS registered with the update service, or be prepared to apply for a new one

· Be able to provide references (Work or University based) covering the last two years

The role will require you to support both the teacher and the pupils, as well as become involved in the extracurricular activities of the school. Main Duties

· To work with identified pupils and small groups of pupils under the supervision of the teacher including the implementation of ILPs and the keeping of up to date records of interventions.

· Give daily feedback on pupil progress to the class teacher and update supporting documents as and when needed.

· Develop and sustain positive relationships with all pupils, acting as a role model by presenting a positive personal image and responding appropriately to individual needs.

· Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.

· Supervise lunchtime provision.

Do you have experience of working with pupils with SEN in a primary mainstream setting?

You will be responsible for the care of a child in a mainstream primary school who has additional needs. You will be directed by the Class Teacher and help deliver specific tasks and activities. In order to be considered you will need…

  • English language reading and comprehension to GCSE standard
  • Numeracy skills to GCSE standard
  • A good understanding of the UK National Curriculum
  • Experience in a similar setting, either as a 1:1 or overseeing a group
  • Transferable skills of working with adults or children that need emotional support
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Learning Support or equivalent (ideal, not essential)
  • Team teach (ideal, not essential)
