Communication Support Worker (British Sign Language Level 3)

Role: Communication Support Worker (British Sign Language Level 3)
Location: Lewisham
Salary: Up to £90 per day
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Temp to Perm

GSL Education is looking for candidates who have the British Sign Language Certification to support deaf and sensory impaired students at one of our client secondary schools in Lewisham. This is a temporary role with the potential for permanency, starting immediately. About the role

  • To provide communication and educational support to deaf students in the Deaf Education Centre and main school setting.
  • To facilitate optimal access to the curriculum by interpretation of spoken language and implementation of alternative teaching strategies and support materials.
  • Provide BSL sessions to students and staff.
  • Provide communication support appropriate to the individual needs of the students.

What we are looking for you to have:

  • Have qualifications or any associated certificates relevant to a Teaching Assistant and British Sign Language level 3.
  • Positively promote Deaf Awareness across the whole school.
  • Worked in a school or similar environment with hearing impaired students
  • Patient, flexible, nurturing nature and the desire to contribute to extra-curricular responsibilities
  • Possess an up-to-date Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to pay for a new one.
