SEMH Teaching Assistant – Tower Hamlets

Location: Tower Hamlets
Salary: £95 – £105 per day
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Long-term, Full-time
Hours: 8:30 AM – 3:45 PM

Are you an experienced and compassionate Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant eager to make a real difference? GSL Education is looking for a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA) to work one-to-one with a child who has complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a supportive school environment in Tower Hamlets.


✏️ What you’ll do:

  • Provide tailored one-to-one emotional and behavioural support.

  • Collaborate closely with teachers and SEN staff to implement effective support strategies.

  • Help the student build coping skills and develop positive social interactions.

  • Encourage active engagement in learning while supporting emotional well-being.

  • Maintain a calm, structured, and nurturing classroom atmosphere.


What we’re looking for:

  • Experience supporting students with SEMH needs or in a behavioural support role.

  • Ability to apply practical strategies to support students facing emotional and behavioural challenges.

  • Resilient, patient, and proactive attitude.

  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

  • Passion for helping students build confidence and succeed.

  • A current, detailed CV covering the last ten years (explaining any gaps).

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for a new check).
