A primary special school in Hilsea, supporting children with a range of complex learning needs, primarily Autism and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) is looking for a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant. The school is a place where children are understood, celebrated, and given the tools they need to succeed in school, at home, and beyond.

What You’ll Be Doingas a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant:

  • Support the delivery of a personalised, engaging curriculum.
  • Help children understand the world around them, including how we are different and alike.
  • Use visual aids, objects, photos, and symbols to support communication
  • Lead and assist with hands-on activities that reflect the interests and needs of each child
  • Encourage social interaction, emotional development, and relationship-building across school life
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure consistency and care

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Creative and willing to adapt learning to different needs
  • A team player who values collaboration and communication
  • Genuinely passionate about working with children with special needs
  • Previous experience in SEN settings is helpful but not essential—what matters most is your attitude and your commitment to helping children thrive.
