Salary Scale: £13.68 to £14.88 per hour

A primary special school in Hilsea, supporting children with a range of complex learning needs, primarily Autism and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) is looking for a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant. The school is a place where children are understood, celebrated, and given the tools they need to succeed in school, at home, and beyond.
What You’ll Be Doingas a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant:
- Support the delivery of a personalised, engaging curriculum.
- Help children understand the world around them, including how we are different and alike.
- Use visual aids, objects, photos, and symbols to support communication
- Lead and assist with hands-on activities that reflect the interests and needs of each child
- Encourage social interaction, emotional development, and relationship-building across school life
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure consistency and care
We are looking for someone who is:
- Creative and willing to adapt learning to different needs
- A team player who values collaboration and communication
- Genuinely passionate about working with children with special needs
- Previous experience in SEN settings is helpful but not essential—what matters most is your attitude and your commitment to helping children thrive.
