GSL Education are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to join a supportive school in Wareham. This is a role where you can really help students with disabilities feel safe, supported, and ready to learn. Whether you're helping in class, working one-to-one, or just being someone they can trust, your support will mean a lot to their school experience.
As a Disability Support Worker, your role is to support students with disabilities in a way that meets their individual needs. Your help will make a real difference in helping them feel confident, included, and able to succeed. This may involve working one-to-one, supporting small groups, or helping students take part in classroom activities. Your support will be key to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment where every student feels respected and encouraged.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Create an inclusive and welcoming classroom environment where every student feels valued.
- Offer one-on-one or small group support to students with disabilities, helping them stay engaged and focused.
- Assist students with their academic work, ensuring they can reach their potential and stay on track.
- Encourage social and emotional development, helping students build confidence and independence.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to tailor support to meet individual student needs.
- Assist with classroom management, ensuring a calm, safe, and productive learning environment.
- Help with lesson preparation to ensure smooth daily operations and effective learning.
What You Need:
- Experience supporting students with disabilities.
- A compassionate, patient approach to working with students.
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with teachers and students.
- The ability to adapt to different learning styles and needs.
- A current, up-to-date CV (covering the last 10 years, with no unexplained gaps).
- An enhanced DBS check registered on the update service, or the willingness to apply for one.
