Job Title: SEMH Behaviour Mentor
Location: Wakefield, WF4
Salary: £90 - £110 per day (Depending on experience)
Start: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time
Are you passionate about supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? GSL Education seeks a dedicated SEMH Behaviour Mentor to join a supportive educational setting in the Wakefield area. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with students, helping them overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs, focusing on emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
- Implement effective behaviour management techniques, including de-escalation strategies, to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Collaborate with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals to develop and implement Individual Behaviour Plans (IBPs) and support strategies.
- Act as a positive role model, promoting resilience, confidence, and self-esteem among students.
- Monitor and track student progress, providing regular feedback to relevant stakeholders and adapting support as necessary.
- Contribute to the development of a nurturing school culture, encouraging inclusion and student well-being.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, ideally in an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of SEMH issues and effective behaviour management strategies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience when working with students who may display challenging behaviour.
- Relevant qualifications or training in behaviour support, mental health, or education are desirable but not essential.
- Team Teach training is desirable.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
