Primary Teaching Assistant
Location: Chesterfield
Salary: £95 - £100 Per Day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-Day/Long Term, Full-time/Part-time

GSL Education are currently looking to appoint a compassionate and motivated Primary Teaching Assistant (Primary TA) to support pupils with special educational needs in Chesterfield.
As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting classroom learning and pupil well-being. Working closely with teachers and SEN professionals, you will assist children in achieving their educational targets while fostering a supportive and inclusive atmosphere. This role is ideal for someone patient, resilient, and enthusiastic about helping children overcome barriers to learning. The ability to travel between sites is essential, as is a commitment to promoting student development.
Responsibilities of Primary Teaching Assistant:
- Provide tailored one-to-one or small group support to pupils with SEN.
- Assist in developing and delivering individualised learning plans.
- Support the classroom teacher in daily activities and lesson preparation.
- Help manage classroom behaviour and ensure a safe learning space.
- Encourage pupil engagement and participation in class activities.
- Contribute to progress monitoring and keep records of achievements.
- Assist during off-site trips and transitions throughout the school day.
- Promote a positive and inclusive school culture that celebrates progress.
Primary TA Qualification:
- CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or Childcare.
- Previous experience in a primary or SEN setting as a Teaching Assistant or similar is preferred.
- A degree in Psychology, Education or a similar field.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- A valid UK driving licence – must be willing to travel.
- An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
