Primary Teaching Assistant
Location: High Peak
Salary: £95 - £100 Per Day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Day-to-Day/Long Term, Full-time/Part-time

GSL Education are currently seeking a dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant to work within SEN settings across High Peak, with a start date of September 2025.

About the Role:

As a Primary Teaching Assistant (Primary TA), you will work closely with teachers and SENCOs to deliver personalised support to pupils with a range of additional learning needs. Whether offering one-to-one guidance, facilitating group activities, or helping manage classroom behaviour, your role will be crucial in fostering a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment.

Responsibilities of a Primary Teaching Assistant:

  • Support pupils with special educational needs in both group and one-to-one settings.
  • Implement and adapt learning activities to meet individual needs and learning styles.
  • Foster a safe, positive, and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Encourage independence and social interaction among pupils.
  • Deliver targeted interventions to support literacy, numeracy, and emotional development.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to ensure cohesive support.
  • Assist with classroom management and general administrative tasks.
  • Support pupils during transitions, break times, and off-site educational visits when needed.
  • Maintain accurate pupil records and report progress and concerns regularly.
  • Promote a consistent approach to behaviour management and emotional support.

Job Requirements for Primary TA:

  • Experience working with children in an educational or care setting, ideally in SEN as a Primary Teaching Assistant.
  • CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or Childcare.
  • A degree in Psychology, Education or a similar field.
  • Excellent communication, patience, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be a driver and hold a valid UK driving licence due to travel between school sites.
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
