Learning Support Assistant
We are currently recruiting a Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school in Blaxhall, supporting pupils aged 8–16 who require consistent, nurturing, and structured support to access education.
This SEMH Learning Support Assistant role is ideal for individuals with experience supporting children or young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, whether that experience has been gained within schools or in alternative settings such as care, youth work, residential support, mentoring, or community services.
As a SEMH Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who may present with emotional dysregulation, anxiety, trauma, or challenging behaviour, helping them engage with learning and develop positive coping strategies.
The Role – SEMH Learning Support Assistant

Supporting pupils aged 8–16 with SEMH needs in a specialist setting

Working 1:1 and in small groups as a SEMH Learning Support Assistant

Supporting emotional regulation, behaviour, and engagement in learning

Assisting with classroom-based learning and targeted interventions

Building positive, trusting relationships as a SEMH Learning Support Assistant

Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and SEN professionals
Who We’re Looking For

Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, SEN, or additional needs

Backgrounds in education, care, youth work, residential support, mentoring, or outreach are welcome
