Job Title: Cover Supervisor
Location: Middlesbrough
Pay Rate: £100 - £130 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term
Can you confidently take responsibility for a classroom, maintain clear expectations, and keep learning on track when the regular teacher is absent?
GSL Education Newcastle Branch are looking for confident and adaptable Cover Supervisor (CS) to work across vibrant schools in Middlesbrough. We would like to hear from individuals who can communicate effectively with young people, manage classroom activities independently, and ensure students remain focused on the work provided by teaching staff.
The Cover Supervisor will oversee pre-planned lessons across different subjects, maintaining continuity of learning while creating an orderly and productive classroom environment.
Cover Supervisor Responsibilities:
- Manage classes during planned or unexpected teacher absence
- Present pre-prepared activities and clarify instructions where necessary
- Maintain appropriate standards of behaviour throughout each lesson
- Encourage students to stay focused and complete assigned work independently
- Address minor classroom issues in accordance with school procedures
- Report relevant information about engagement, behaviour, and completed tasks to teaching staff
Cover Supervisor Requirements:
- Confidence supervising secondary-aged students within a classroom setting
- Previous experience in education, coaching, mentoring, youth work, or a similar environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to establish clear expectations
- Understanding of effective classroom and behaviour management approaches
- Flexible and organised approach to working across different subjects and year groups
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
