Salary: Up to £220 per day (depending on experience)

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are currently seeking an enthusiastic Physical Education (PE) Teacher to work with a school in Barnsley. This role offers the opportunity to deliver engaging practical lessons, encourage active participation and help pupils develop a positive attitude towards sport and healthy lifestyles.

Your responsibilities as a PE Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver engaging PE lessons for students with varied abilities.
  • Teach practical sporting activities safely and effectively.
  • Encourage teamwork, discipline and active participation.
  • Develop pupils' physical skills and understanding of healthy lifestyles.
  • Assess students' progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintain positive behaviour and clear safety expectations.
  • Support wider sporting activities and extracurricular opportunities where appropriate.

Requirements for the PE Teacher role:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent is essential for being a PE Teaher.
  • Strong subject knowledge across relevant areas of Physical Education.
  • Previous experience teaching PE within a school setting is desirable.
  • Effective classroom, behaviour and practical-session management skills.
  • Ability to motivate pupils and encourage participation.
  • Strong communication, planning and organisational skills.
  • Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
  • Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
