Salary: £460 - £650 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Are you looking to use your coaching experience to make a real difference in the classroom? A welcoming school in Sheffield is seeking a dedicated Sports Coach / Learning Support professional to join their team from September 2026.
About the Role:
As a Sports Coach / Learning Support professional, you will work in a school-based classroom support role rather than delivering sports sessions. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include supporting students during lessons, assisting with behaviour management, providing one-to-one and small group support, and helping to create a positive learning environment. Your background in sport and coaching will be valued for the transferable skills it brings, including resilience, motivation, teamwork and the ability to engage young people.

Responsibilities:

Provide classroom-based support to students throughout the school day.

Assist teachers with behaviour management and student engagement.

Support pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups where required.

Help students remain focused and participate positively in lessons.

Provide cover supervision when appropriate and in line with school requirements.

Build positive relationships with students and work collaboratively with teaching and pastoral staff.
Requirements:
-
Previous experience as a Sports Coach or in a similar coaching role is desirable.

A genuine interest in supporting children and young people within an educational setting.

Strong communication and behaviour management skills.

A patient, resilient and adaptable approach.

Ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.

An enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or willingness to apply for one through GSL Education.
