Salary: £460 - £650 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)

Are you confident leading a classroom and passionate about helping young people stay engaged with their learning? A welcoming secondary school in Sheffield is looking for a reliable Cover Supervisor to join their team from September 2026.
About the Role:
As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain focused and complete the work that has been set. You will maintain a positive learning environment, manage classroom behaviour effectively and provide support to students across a range of subjects. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers or experienced education professionals looking to gain valuable classroom experience.

Responsibilities:

Supervise lessons using pre-planned work provided by teaching staff.

Maintain a positive, safe and productive classroom environment.

Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.

Support students with their learning and encourage active participation.

Report on student attendance, behaviour and lesson outcomes to teaching staff.

Work collaboratively with teachers and other members of the school team.
Requirements:
-
Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

Strong classroom management and communication skills.

Confidence leading groups of secondary-aged students.

A calm, adaptable and professional approach.

Good organisational skills and the ability to work independently.

An enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or willingness to apply for one through GSL Education.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
