Job Title: Safeguarding Officer
Location: Wakefield
Pay: £120–£150 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education are looking for a Safeguarding Officer to help promote safe and supportive schools in Wakefield. We would like to hear from an individual who can champion student safety, wellbeing, and safeguarding best practice.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting student welfare and responding appropriately to safeguarding matters.

Safeguarding Officer Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, record, and respond to safeguarding concerns in line with school procedures
  • Work closely with staff, families, and external agencies to support student welfare
  • Maintain accurate safeguarding records and confidential documentation
  • Support attendance, wellbeing, and early intervention initiatives where required
  • Promote safeguarding awareness and best practice across the setting
  • Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students

Safeguarding Officer Requirements:

  • Experience in safeguarding, pastoral support, education, social care, or a related field is desirable
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures
  • Excellent communication and record-keeping skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information professionally and confidentially
  • Calm, organised, and proactive approach to supporting student welfare
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
