Behaviour Mentor – Scunthorpe

GSL Education are seeking a resilient and experienced Behaviour Mentor to work full-time within a highly challenging educational environment in Scunthorpe. This role involves supporting students aged 16–19 years with severe mental health needs and extreme behavioural challenges.

This is a demanding yet highly rewarding position, suited to someone confident working in intensive settings where consistency, resilience and strong behaviour management skills are essential.

The Role:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to students aged 16–19

  • Supporting young people with severe mental health needs and extreme behavioural difficulties

  • Implementing behaviour support plans and de-escalation strategies

  • Responding calmly and effectively to crisis situations

  • Working closely with teaching staff and senior leaders to maintain a safe learning environment

  • Recording and reporting incidents accurately

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have previous experience working with challenging behaviour in education or alternative provision settings

  • Have experience supporting individuals with significant mental health needs

  • Be confident working in a physically demanding role

  • Demonstrate resilience, emotional stability and a calm approach under pressure

  • Be available full-time (Monday to Friday)

  • Hold Team Teach or restraint training (highly desirable)
