Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Sheffield, S10
Pay Rate: £95 – £120 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Sheffield, S10. As a SEMH TA, you will have a valuable opportunity to support pupils facing behavioural, emotional, or mental health challenges, helping them to fully engage in their learning in a safe and nurturing setting.
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing targeted 1:1 or small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
- Assisting in the development and delivery of personalised learning and behaviour plans.
- Encouraging positive behaviour, resilience, and emotional wellbeing in pupils.
- Building strong and trusting relationships to promote self-confidence and engagement.
- Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to ensure effective support.
To be successful as an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you should:
- Have experience supporting young people with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, or additional learning requirements.
- Possess excellent communication, empathy, and behaviour management skills.
- Be patient, adaptable, and committed to pupil wellbeing and progress.
- Hold an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
- Provide a full, up-to-date CV with explanations for any gaps in employment over the last 10 years.
