Full-Time Religious Education (RE) Teacher – Secondary School in Southampton, Hampshire

GSL Education are excited to present a rewarding opportunity for a passionate and committed Religious Education (RE) Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Southampton, Hampshire. This full-time position is set to begin in October 2025, with flexibility depending on the availability of the successful candidate. The role offers the potential for a permanent or fixed-term contract following a successful probation period.

We warmly welcome applications from both Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced educators who are enthusiastic about guiding students through the exploration of world religions, ethics, and philosophical thought.

Responsibilities of an RE Teacher:

  • Deliver engaging and thought-provoking Religious Education lessons to secondary school students.
  • Develop and implement creative lesson plans that encourage critical thinking and respect for diverse beliefs.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, offering constructive feedback to support academic and personal development.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes open dialogue and mutual respect.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to contribute to a supportive and forward-thinking school culture.
  • Participate in school events and activities that enrich the RE curriculum and student experience.
  • Stay informed about curriculum developments and best practices in Religious Education.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A strong passion for teaching Religious Education and promoting interfaith understanding.
  • Experience teaching RE at the secondary level (ECTs are encouraged to apply).
  • Ability to design and deliver engaging, student-centered lessons.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • A commitment to student well-being and academic success.
  • A collaborative and proactive approach to working with staff and students.
  • An up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years with no unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
