Cover Supervisor (CS) - Southampton, Hampshire
Are you confident, organised, and passionate about education?
A well-regarded secondary school in Southampton is looking to appoint a full-time Cover Supervisor from September 2025. This is an ideal role for aspiring teachers or education professionals who enjoy engaging with students and supporting learning across a range of subjects.
As a Cover Supervisor (CS), you will step into the classroom when teachers are absent or on PPA, delivering pre-set work and ensuring students remain focused and on task.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise classes during teacher absence or PPA time using provided lesson plans and materials.
- Maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively and ensure work is completed.
- Report back to teaching staff on student engagement and any issues encountered.
- Support school routines and uphold policies across the school day.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with young people, preferably in an educational setting.
- Confident classroom presence with strong communication skills.
- Ability to manage behaviour and maintain a calm, respectful environment.
- A proactive, flexible attitude and willingness to support a range of year groups and subjects.
- An enhanced DBS certificate on the update service or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
