Learning Support Assistant (LSA) - Winchester, Hampshire

A welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Winchester is looking to appoint a Full-Time Learning Support Assistant (LSA) starting this September 2025. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Speech & Language difficulties, helping them engage confidently in the classroom and beyond. A permanent contract will be available following a successful probation period.
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEN and speech & language challenges.
- Assist teaching staff in adapting lessons to meet individual learning needs.
- Encourage and model effective communication and social interaction.
- Monitor student progress and support personalised learning strategies.
- Promote a positive, inclusive learning environment and support classroom behaviour management.
- Collaborate with SENCOs, therapists, and parents to implement and review support plans.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN and/or communication needs – essential.
- A patient, supportive, and proactive approach to learning support.
- Good literacy, numeracy, and communication skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
- A genuine passion for inclusive education.
- An enhanced DBS certificate on the update service or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
