SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary Schools
Location: Barton-upon-Humber
Salary: £88.94 - £114.84 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-Day / Long-Term; Full-Time / Part-Time

GSL Education are currently looking for caring and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to work across primary schools in Barton-upon-Humber. These positions are ideal for individuals with experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs, including Autism, ADHD, Speech & Language Difficulties, or learning disabilities.

About the Role:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will work alongside class teachers and SENCOs to support pupils with individual needs both in the classroom and in small groups. You will help implement strategies and interventions to promote progress, confidence, and independence.
Key Responsibilities of a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN
- Support children with Autism, ADHD, and additional learning needs
- Assist with differentiated tasks and scaffold learning where needed
- Help implement EHCP and IEP targets
- Promote positive behaviour and engagement in lessons
- Collaborate closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
- Create a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment
- Offer emotional regulation support and help build social skills
- Deliver interventions under the guidance of the teacher or SENCO
- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and behaviour
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with children with SEN in a school or care setting as a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) or similar
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3) are desirable but not essential
- A degree in Psychology, SEN, Counselling or a similar field.
- Understanding of common learning and behavioural difficulties
- A nurturing, patient, and proactive attitude
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to adapt and remain calm in challenging situations
- Have an updated CV and a valid enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or willingness to apply)
