Salary: £90 – £120 per day (depending on experience)

GSL Education are currently seeking a dedicated Pastoral Support Assistant to join a welcoming SEN school in Gainsborough. This role requires someone who is empathetic, patient, and committed to supporting the emotional and social development of children and young people with a range of complex needs.

Role Overview

As a Pastoral Support Assistant, you will work closely with students, staff, and families to provide targeted support that encourages well-being, attendance, and positive behaviour. Your role will be essential in fostering a nurturing school environment where every student feels safe, supported, and understood.

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide pastoral care and emotional support to students across the school.
  • Work with individual pupils and small groups to promote self-esteem and social skills.
  • Support with behaviour management and de-escalation strategies when necessary.
  • Liaise with teachers, SENCOs, and families to address concerns and implement support strategies.
  • Help monitor attendance and engagement, encouraging positive routines.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and respectful school environment.

Requirements of Pastoral Support Assistant

  • Previous experience working in a pastoral or SEN support role is desirable.
  • A calm, caring, and resilient nature.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting the emotional and social development of young people.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
