Salary: £130 – £190 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teacher to join a specialist secondary provision in Scunthorpe. This role is ideal for educators with a background in supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties and managing severe challenging behaviour.

Role Overview:
As a Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Teacher, you will deliver a flexible and differentiated curriculum designed to meet the diverse needs of students facing emotional regulation challenges and significant mental health barriers. Working in a small class setting, you will focus on engagement, trust-building, and consistent support to promote academic and emotional progress.

Responsibilities for SEMH Teacher :

  • Deliver tailored lessons that align with individual learning needs and EHCPs.
  • Support pupils in overcoming behavioural and emotional obstacles to learning.
  • Create a safe, structured, and therapeutic learning environment.
  • Collaborate with support staff, SENCOs, and external professionals to ensure holistic support.
  • Build strong relationships with pupils who may have experienced trauma or school exclusion.
  • Promote social development, resilience, and life skills.
  • Contribute to behaviour plans and regular pupil progress reviews.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching in SEMH or alternative provision settings is highly desirable.
  • In-depth understanding of Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
  • A nurturing, non-judgemental, and proactive approach.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
