Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Wakefield
Salary Range: £95 -£120 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Time: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are seeking compassionate and committed SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils with additional learning needs in a welcoming and inclusive school setting in Wakefield. About the Role:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside classroom teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to support the learning and development of students with a variety of special educational needs. Your role will be vital in promoting academic progress, emotional resilience, and social development for the pupils you support.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils with additional needs such as autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or SEMH challenges.
  • Assist in implementing EHCPs and personalised learning strategies.
  • Encourage pupil participation, engagement, and independence in class activities.
  • Support pupils in managing behaviour positively and constructively.
  • Liaise with teaching staff and families to track progress and provide feedback.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN in educational or care settings.
  • Sound knowledge of various SEN conditions and appropriate support strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
