HLTA – Primary Class Support
Location: St Leonards
Pay: £90–£110 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-Day / Long-Term; Full-Time / Part-Time

GSL Education are currently seeking a committed and proactive Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support a Primary Class in a welcoming school based in St Leonards. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with HLTA status or relevant experience, looking to contribute meaningfully to pupils’ learning and development.

About the Role:

As an HLTA, you will play a crucial role in supporting teaching and learning within the classroom. You will work closely with the class teacher, deliver pre-planned lessons to whole classes when required, and provide targeted support to individuals or small groups of pupils.

Main Responsibilities of a Higher Level Teaching Assistant - Primary:

  • Support classroom learning across Key Stages 1 and 2 under the direction of the class teacher
  • Deliver planned lessons to whole classes in the teacher’s absence
  • Provide one-to-one and small group interventions to raise achievement
  • Help prepare teaching materials and classroom resources
  • Promote positive behaviour and a safe, inclusive environment
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, reporting back to the teacher
  • Assist with classroom administration and record keeping

Skills & Qualifications of an HLTA - Primary Class Support:

  • HLTA qualification or significant experience working as a Teaching Assistant at a higher level
  • Experience supporting pupils in a primary school setting
  • Confidence in managing whole-class teaching responsibilities
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and teamwork skills
  • A calm, nurturing approach and the ability to motivate young learners
  • Have an updated CV and an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or willingness to apply
