Attendance Officer
Location: Chesterfield
Salary: £96 - £100 Per Day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Day-to-Day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are seeking a committed and detail-oriented Attendance Officer to work across schools in the Chesterfield area. This role plays a key part in promoting student attendance, engagement, and welfare, particularly for pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
About the Role:
As an Attendance Officer, you will be instrumental in promoting positive attendance habits, identifying barriers to engagement, and supporting young people to return to and remain in education. You’ll work closely with school staff, families, and external agencies to create a supportive and inclusive environment for all pupils. This role is ideal for someone with a background in pastoral care, education welfare, or youth work, who is ready to make a difference.
Attendance Officer Responsibilities:
- Monitor student attendance and identify patterns of concern
- Work closely with pupils, parents, and staff to address attendance issues
- Conduct home visits and liaise with external agencies as necessary
- Implement attendance strategies and interventions to promote regular attendance
- Keep accurate and up-to-date attendance records and reports
- Support pupils in re-engaging with education through positive encouragement
- Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and promote a safe school culture
Attendance Officer Requirements:
- Experience working within a school environment, ideally in an attendance or pastoral capacity as an Attendance Officer
- Understanding of SEMH needs and the challenges that impact school attendance
- Excellent communication, organisational, and record-keeping skills
- Must be a driver and have access to vehicles for travel between school sites
- A calm, approachable, and resilient attitude
- Confident using data systems and Microsoft Office
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one
