Pay Scale: £150 - £250 per day – depending on experience & Contract Type

As a Business Studies teacher, your responsibilities typically include more than just marking and planning, although those are important aspects of the role. Here are some key responsibilities you would typically have:

  • Curriculum Development: Develop and deliver a comprehensive and engaging business studies curriculum that covers essential topics.
  • Effective Classroom Instruction: Provide clear and effective instruction, utilizing innovative teaching methods, technology, and real-world examples to make complex business concepts accessible and relatable to students.
  • Student Assessment: Assess student progress through a variety of evaluation methods, including quizzes, tests, projects, presentations, and case studies, and provide constructive feedback to promote academic growth.
  • Mentorship and Guidance: Foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in students, guiding them towards their academic and personal development, and preparing them for future leadership roles in the business world.
  • Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive and organized classroom environment that encourages active participation, teamwork, and a strong passion for business studies among students.
  • Professional Development: Stay updated with the latest developments in the field of business, economics, and education, bringing current industry insights into the classroom and participating in continuous professional development to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.


The successful candidate for Business Studies Teacher will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (ideally PGCE, GTP, BEd, Cert Ed, BA with QTS) in Business Studies.
  • Prior experience teaching Business Studies to secondary school students.
  • Strong knowledge of the national curriculum and assessment methods.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
