About the Role:

This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with pupils who require additional support due to a range of special educational needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and MLD. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in helping students overcome barriers to learning, fostering both academic progress and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEN, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Assist with personal development, emotional regulation, and behavioural support.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals to deliver individual learning plans.
  • Modify resources and instructions to meet specific learning needs.
  • Support pupils in developing social skills and building self-esteem in a structured, safe environment.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere that enables progress and engagement.

Job Requirements:

  • Understanding of various SEN conditions, including autism, SEMH, and communication difficulties.
  • Previous experience supporting pupils with special educational needs in a school or care setting.
  • A calm, empathetic approach and the ability to build strong rapport with pupils facing challenges.
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, Psychology degree, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills; GCSEs in English and Maths are essential.
  • Resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to safeguarding and child protection protocols.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
