Job Title: Learning Support
Location: Totton, Hampshire
Salary: £12.82 per hour
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-Time/Permanent (Part-Time can be arranged for the right candidate)

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Learning Support professional to join a friendly and inclusive secondary school community in Totton, Hampshire.

As a Learning Support, you will play a vital role in helping students overcome barriers to learning, both academically and emotionally. You will work closely with teaching staff to provide in-class support and ensure that all learners can access the curriculum effectively.

What you have to do as a Learning Support:

  • Support students in mainstream classroom settings across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5
  • Provide targeted one-to-one and small group interventions
  • Assist teachers in preparing lesson resources and adapting materials
  • Help manage behaviour positively and encourage student participation
  • Monitor student progress and communicate observations to staff
  • Encourage the development of independent learning skills

Requirements for Learning Support:

  • Previous experience in a secondary school or youth setting as a Learning Support is desirable
  • CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ in Childcare or Teaching Assistant, or relevant degree preferred
  • University students pursuing degrees or graduates in Education, Psychology, or related fields are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, proactive, and nurturing approach
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one
