Join Our Team as an SEN Specialist (1:1 Support Worker) in Romford Secondary Schools

Location: Romford
Salary: £85 - £110 per day
Start Date: Immediately / September 2024
Contract Type: Full-time (permanent)

As an SEN Specialist (1:1 Support Worker), you'll play a crucial role in providing personalised support and guidance to students with diverse learning needs. Whether you're facilitating access to the curriculum, promoting social skills development, or offering emotional support, your commitment and expertise will empower students to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing tailored support to students with special educational needs, both in and out of the classroom, to facilitate their learning and participation in school life.
  • Collaborating with teachers and other professionals to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) that address the specific needs and goals of each student.
  • Adapting teaching and learning resources to meet the individual learning styles and preferences of students, ensuring accessibility and engagement.
  • Monitoring student progress and behaviour, and providing regular feedback to parents, teachers, and SENCOs to support ongoing intervention and adjustment.
  • Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued, respected, and supported in their academic and personal development.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience working with students with special educational needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Empathy, patience, and resilience in working with students facing diverse challenges and barriers to learning.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and a willingness to learn and implement new strategies and approaches.
