Special Education Needs Learning Support Assistant (SEN LSA) Role Overview: As a Special Education Needs Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children with a range of needs, including those with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). Working closely with the SENCO and classroom teachers, you will provide tailored support and intervention to help students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. This is an exciting opportunity for a compassionate and dedicated individual to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children with SEN.
Special Education Needs Learning Support Assistant (SEN LSA) Key Responsibilities:
  • Special Education Needs Learning Support Assistant (SEN LSA) Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with special educational needs, including those with EHCPs.
  • Special Education Needs Learning Support Assistant (SEN LSA) Implement individualized support plans and strategies to address the specific needs of each student, including those with Speech and Language difficulties, ADHD, ACMH, and Autism.
  • Special Education Needs Learning Support Assistant (SEN LSA) Assist students with accessing the curriculum, participating in classroom activities, and developing key skills in literacy, numeracy, and social interaction.
  • Special Education Needs Learning Support Assistant (SEN LSA) Foster a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued, respected, and supported.
  • Special Education Needs Learning Support Assistant (SEN LSA) Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, SENCO, and other professionals to monitor student progress and evaluate the effectiveness of support interventions.
  • Special Education Needs Learning Support Assistant (SEN LSA) Support students with personal care and health needs, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Special Education Needs Learning Support Assistant (SEN LSA) Maintain accurate records of student progress and intervention activities, in line with school policies and procedures.
  • Special Education Needs Learning Support Assistant (SEN LSA) Communicate regularly with parents/carers to provide updates on student progress and discuss any concerns or issues.
  • Special Education Needs Learning Support Assistant (SEN LSA) Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in supporting children with SEN.
Special Education Needs Learning Support Assistant (SEN LSA) Requirements:
  • Special Education Needs Learning Support Assistant (SEN LSA) Previous experience working as a Learning Support Assistant or SEN LSA, preferably in a primary school setting.
  • Special Education Needs Learning Support Assistant (SEN LSA) Understanding of the needs of children with SEN, including those with Speech and Language difficulties, ADHD, ACMH, and Autism.
  • Special Education Needs Learning Support Assistant (SEN LSA) Ability to build positive relationships with children, parents/carers, and colleagues, demonstrating empathy, patience, and understanding.
  • Special Education Needs Learning Support Assistant (SEN LSA) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Special Education Needs Learning Support Assistant (SEN LSA) Relevant qualifications or training in supporting children with SEN, such as Makaton, Team-Teach, or relevant Speech and Language courses, would be advantageous.
  • Special Education Needs Learning Support Assistant (SEN LSA) Enhanced DBS clearance and satisfactory references.
