This is a school-based support role where sports, fitness and coaching skills can be used to encourage students’ participation, support classroom learning and promote positive behaviour.
Your coaching background can be valuable beyond sport, particularly when helping students stay motivated, work with others and overcome barriers to learning. This position offers the chance to bring those strengths into a school environment and make a difference to pupils' everyday experiences.

- Assist with classroom activities and wider school routines as required.
- Encourage communication, teamwork and self-confidence.
- Support students who may need additional help with behaviour or participation.
- Adapt your approach to suit individual needs and different situations.
- Work with teachers and support staff to help pupils achieve their goals.
- Encourage positive relationships and a respectful school environment.
Requirements for the Sports Coach (Learning Support) role:
- Experience working with children or young people is desirable.
- Background in sports coaching, fitness, mentoring, youth work or a related area would be beneficial.
- Ability to transfer coaching skills into a classroom or school-support environment.
- Positive, patient and encouraging approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Reliable and comfortable working as part of a school team.
- Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
Benefits of working with GSL Education:
- Opportunities to apply your skills in local school settings.
- A dedicated consultant providing support throughout your placement.
- Competitive weekly pay and ongoing guidance from the education team.
