Job Title: Cover Supervisor

Salary: £460 – £650 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Are you confident managing a classroom and helping pupils get the most out of their lessons? A welcoming secondary school in Sheffield is looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to support students and keep learning on track.
About the Role:
As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes during teachers' absences, making sure pupils understand their tasks and stay engaged with the work provided. You will manage classroom behaviour, maintain clear expectations and offer guidance where needed. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young people and wants to make a positive contribution to their education while gaining valuable school-based experience.

Responsibilities:

Supervise classes and oversee work set by the regular teacher.

Maintain classroom discipline and encourage positive behaviour.

Explain tasks clearly and support pupils as they complete their work.

Adapt to different subjects, year groups and classroom settings.

Ensure school policies and classroom routines are followed.

Report concerns, incidents or behavioural issues to the appropriate staff.
Requirements:

Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

Strong communication and classroom management skills.

A calm, confident and adaptable approach.

Ability to work independently and follow lesson plans.

Good organisational skills and a reliable, professional attitude.

A genuine interest in supporting pupils' learning and development.
To work with GSL Education as a Cover Supervisor, you should:

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
