Job Title: Cover Supervisor

Salary: £460 – £650 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Do you enjoy working with young people and have the confidence to lead a classroom? A welcoming secondary school in Doncaster is looking for a capable and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to help pupils stay engaged and keep lessons running smoothly.
About the Role:
As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes when teachers are absent, ensuring pupils understand the tasks set and remain focused on their learning. You will manage classroom behaviour, maintain routines and provide guidance where needed, helping students make the most of their time in school. The role offers a rewarding opportunity to build your experience in education while developing valuable classroom management skills.

Responsibilities:

Supervise classes and ensure pupils complete pre-planned lessons.

Maintain good classroom behaviour and establish clear expectations.

Provide guidance to pupils as they work through assigned tasks.

Adapt to different subjects, year groups and classroom settings.

Follow school policies and help maintain a safe learning environment.

Communicate any concerns or incidents to the relevant teaching staff.
Requirements:

Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

Confident communication and classroom management skills.

A patient, approachable and adaptable manner.

Ability to work independently and follow lesson plans.

Good organisational skills and a reliable, professional attitude.

A genuine interest in helping pupils engage with their education.
To work with GSL Education as a Cover Supervisor, you should:

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
