Cover Supervisor – Grimsby

Salary: £120–£140 per day, depending on experience

GSL Education is seeking an enthusiastic and adaptable Cover Supervisor to work in secondary schools across Grimsby. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys motivating young people and wants to gain valuable experience before pursuing a career in teaching.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will help lessons run smoothly when the usual teacher is absent. You will supervise pupils, guide them through pre-planned activities, and encourage them to take responsibility for their learning. You will need to be confident, approachable, and able to maintain a structured classroom environment.
Whether you have recently graduated, are studying at university, or are exploring a future in education, this role can help you develop practical skills and gain insight into the day-to-day responsibilities of working in a school.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise pupils during lessons and oversee activities prepared by teachers.
- Communicate instructions clearly and encourage pupils to complete their work.
- Promote positive behaviour and maintain classroom expectations.
- Help students stay engaged, focused, and respectful of others.
- Respond appropriately to questions and classroom situations.
- Follow school policies and safeguarding procedures.
- Communicate any concerns to teaching staff or the appropriate school contact.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- A genuine interest in education and young people’s development.
- Confidence speaking to and leading groups of pupils.
- Good communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills.
- A positive attitude and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- The ability to adapt to different subjects, classes, and school routines.
- Previous experience with children or young people is helpful but not essential.
