Cover Supervisor – Grantham
Location: Grantham
Salary: £120–£140 per day, depending on experience

GSL Education is looking for a reliable and proactive Cover Supervisor to support secondary schools in Grantham. Are you considering a career in teaching and looking for an opportunity to understand how a school operates? You will supervise classes when teachers are unavailable, helping students stay on task and complete the learning activities provided. You will also play an important part in maintaining classroom routines, encouraging respectful behaviour, and ensuring pupils have a productive lesson.
This position is particularly suitable for recent graduates, university students, and aspiring teachers who want to build confidence, develop behaviour management skills, and explore a future in education.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee classes across different subjects using the work provided by teaching staff.
- Give clear instructions and ensure pupils understand their tasks.
- Encourage students to work independently and remain focused.
- Maintain appropriate classroom behaviour and follow school procedures.
- Respond calmly to classroom challenges and seek assistance when required.
- Pass on relevant feedback about lessons, pupil progress, or behaviour.
- Follow safeguarding requirements and help ensure pupil safety at all times.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- A strong interest in working in a school environment.
- Clear communication skills and the confidence to lead a class.
- A professional, approachable, and consistent manner.
- Good problem-solving and organisational abilities.
- The flexibility to work with different age groups and subjects.
- Experience in tutoring, coaching, mentoring, or working with young people is an advantage.
You do not necessarily need to be a qualified teacher for this role. Aspiring teachers and graduates looking to gain classroom experience are warmly encouraged to apply.
