Cover Supervisor – Long Sutton
Location: Long Sutton
Salary: £110–£130 per day, depending on experience
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time / Flexible
GSL Education is looking for an enthusiastic and dependable Cover Supervisor to support secondary schools in Long Sutton. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people, can confidently lead a classroom, and wants to contribute to a positive learning environment.
You will help ensure that pupils continue learning when their regular teacher is absent by supervising lessons and guiding students through pre-prepared work. This role could be an excellent starting point for graduates, university students, and aspiring teachers who want to gain hands-on classroom experience and develop the skills needed for a future career in education.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise classes during teachers’ planned and unplanned absences.
- Deliver instructions and ensure pupils understand their assigned learning activities.
- Maintain a calm, orderly classroom and encourage positive behaviour.
- Keep pupils engaged and focused throughout the lesson.
- Follow school policies, including behaviour management and safeguarding procedures.
- Provide appropriate assistance to pupils with their work.
- Communicate any concerns or incidents to the relevant school staff.
- Help create an inclusive environment where pupils feel supported and ready to learn.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confidence managing groups of secondary school pupils.
- A positive, patient, and professional attitude.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to adapt to changing situations.
- The ability to follow lesson plans and school instructions.
- Previous experience working with young people is desirable but not essential.
- An interest in teaching or education; graduates and aspiring teachers are especially encouraged to apply.
