Do you enjoy helping young people work through challenges and develop the confidence to succeed at school? A secondary school in Sheffield is seeking a committed Behaviour Support Assistant to help students engage with lessons, manage their behaviour and make positive progress.

About the Role:

In this role, you'll work closely with subject teachers and pastoral staff to support students across Key Stages 3 and 4. You'll help pupils navigate challenging situations, stay focused during lessons and make positive choices throughout the school day. Whether providing individual guidance or supporting classroom routines, you'll play an important part in helping students overcome barriers to learning and build better relationships with education.

About the School:

The school is dedicated to providing a safe and inclusive setting where students are encouraged to take responsibility, develop their skills and achieve their potential. Staff work together to maintain clear expectations, provide consistent pastoral support and ensure pupils have the guidance they need to succeed both academically and personally.

Responsibilities:

  • Support secondary-aged students with behaviour management, emotional regulation and engagement in lessons.

  • Work alongside subject teachers to implement consistent behaviour strategies across different departments.

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support for students who need additional guidance.

  • Encourage positive choices, respectful communication and appropriate classroom conduct.

  • Help students manage transitions between lessons and settle into learning activities.

  • Monitor behaviour and share relevant observations with teaching and pastoral staff.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with secondary-aged children or young people is desirable.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships.

  • A patient, resilient and consistent approach to behaviour management.

  • Confidence in maintaining boundaries and responding calmly to challenging situations.

  • Ability to work effectively with teachers and pastoral teams.

  • A genuine interest in helping young people overcome barriers and engage positively with education.

If you're ready to help young people make positive changes and get more out of their education, we'd welcome your application.
