Salary Scale: £92 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)

Are you a caring, patient and dedicated Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting pupils with additional needs? GSL Education Hull Branch are hiring an SEN Teaching Assistant to provide targeted one-to-one support to a student with a hearing impairment in a school setting in York. The role will involve working 4 days per week.

The successful candidate will provide consistent, personalised support to help the student access learning, communicate effectively and participate confidently in school life.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated one-to-one support to a student with a hearing impairment throughout the school day.
  • Help the student access lessons, instructions, resources and classroom activities.
  • Adapt communication and learning approaches to meet the student’s individual needs.
  • Encourage confidence, independence and positive participation in school activities.
  • Work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to ensure consistent support.
  • Monitor progress, engagement and any barriers to learning, sharing relevant observations with staff.

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN or additional needs is desirable.
  • Experience supporting pupils with hearing impairments or communication needs would be advantageous.
  • Patient, compassionate and attentive approach with strong awareness of individual needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively while providing consistent one-to-one support.
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
