Location: Sheffield
Salary: £460–£600 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Long-Term/ Day-to-day, Full-Time / Part-Time
Are you confident supporting young people to manage challenging behaviour and make positive choices?
GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are looking for a calm and committed Behaviour Support professional to work with a vibrant school in Sheffield. The successful candidate will provide targeted support to pupils who may require additional help with behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement in school.
As a Behaviour Support, you will:
- Provide individual and small-group support to pupils with behavioural needs.
- Help students recognise triggers and develop positive strategies.
- Encourage students to engage appropriately with learning.
- Build constructive relationships based on trust and clear boundaries.
- Support the implementation of individual behaviour plans.
- Work alongside teachers, pastoral teams and other support staff.
- Promote positive behaviour and a safe learning environment.
Requirements for the Behaviour Support role:
- Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.
- Experience in behaviour support, SEMH, SEN, education or youth work would be advantageous.
- Calm and consistent approach when dealing with challenging situations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries while developing positive relationships.
- Resilience and patience when supporting pupils with additional needs.
- Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
Effective behaviour support is often about understanding what sits behind a pupil's behaviour rather than simply responding to it. You will have the opportunity to help students develop more positive ways of communicating, managing difficulties and engaging with school.
Benefits:
- A dedicated consultant providing support throughout your placement.
- Access to local education and behaviour-support opportunities.
- Competitive weekly pay and continued professional guidance.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks; including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
As an ethical, inclusive and independent recruitment agency, GSL Education are committed to providing quality teaching and support staff in schools across South Yorkshire.
