Salary: £460–£650 per week (depending on experience)

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are currently seeking a reliable Cover Supervisor (CS) to work with a school in Barnsley. This position would suit someone who is confident taking responsibility for a class, following prepared work and maintaining clear expectations throughout the school day.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will:
- Supervise classes in the absence of the regular teacher.
- Deliver clear instructions and ensure pupils understand the work provided.
- Maintain appropriate classroom routines and expectations.
- Encourage students to remain focused and complete assigned activities.
- Manage behaviour calmly and consistently.
- Provide appropriate support where pupils require clarification.
- Report relevant issues or concerns to teaching staff.
Requirements for the Cover Supervisor role:
- Experience working with children or young people is desirable.
- Previous education, tutoring, youth work or similar experience would be advantageous.
- Confident and consistent approach to managing a classroom.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain composed in challenging situations.
- Organised, dependable and adaptable approach.
- Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
A Cover Supervisor plays an important part in keeping learning on track when the usual teacher is unavailable. If you are confident working with pupils and can provide clear direction while maintaining a positive atmosphere, this could be a good opportunity.
