Salary: £460 - £650 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)

Are you confident managing a classroom and looking for a rewarding opportunity in education? A welcoming secondary school in Barnsley is looking for a reliable Cover Supervisor to support pupils and maintain a positive learning environment.
About the Role:
As a Cover Supervisor, you will take responsibility for supervising classes when teachers are unavailable, ensuring pupils remain focused and engaged with their work. You will follow lesson plans provided by teaching staff, manage classroom behaviour and provide support where needed throughout the school day.
This role would suit someone who enjoys working with young people, communicates confidently and can create a calm and purposeful classroom environment.

Responsibilities:

Supervise classes in the absence of the regular teacher.

Deliver pre-prepared lesson activities and ensure pupils remain on task.

Manage classroom behaviour in line with school expectations.

Support pupils with their learning and encourage positive participation.

Maintain a calm, safe and orderly classroom environment.

Report any significant behaviour or learning concerns to the appropriate staff.

Follow school policies and procedures throughout the day.
Requirements:

Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

Strong classroom management and communication skills.

A confident, calm and consistent approach to behaviour.

Ability to follow lesson plans and work independently.

Good organisational skills and reliability.

A genuine interest in supporting pupils within an educational setting.
-
Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor or in a school environment is advantageous.

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
