Job Title: English Teacher

Salary Scale: £34,068 to £52,834 per annum (MPS/UPS)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic English Teacher to work within secondary schools across York. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled teacher who can deliver engaging lessons, build positive relationships with students, and support strong academic progress.
About the Role
As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging English lessons across the secondary curriculum. You will create a supportive classroom environment where students can develop their reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills while being encouraged to achieve their potential.
Core Responsibilities of the English Teacher
- Plan and deliver engaging English lessons in line with the secondary curriculum.
- Develop students’ reading, writing, comprehension, analytical, and communication skills.
- Differentiate lessons and resources to meet a range of abilities and learning needs.
- Maintain a positive and well-managed classroom environment.
- Assess students’ work, monitor progress, and provide constructive feedback.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to support students’ academic development and overall progress.
As the Ideal English Teacher, You Should Have
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Strong subject knowledge across English Language and Literature.
- Previous experience teaching English within a secondary school setting.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- The ability to plan engaging lessons and adapt teaching to different learning needs.
- A positive, enthusiastic, and student-focused approach to teaching.
To Work with GSL Education, You Must:
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Have an up-to-date CV with at least 2 professional references covering the last 2 years.
- Have recent experience working with children or young people.
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
