Cover Supervisor
Location: Sleaford, Lincolnshire
Salary: £110 – £130 per day, depending on experience
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time | Long-term / Flexible
GSL Education is looking for a confident and dependable Cover Supervisor to work in secondary schools across Sleaford.
Are you looking for an opportunity to work with young people in a secondary school environment? GSL Education is seeking a Cover Supervisor who can confidently lead classes, maintain positive behaviour, and support students with their learning when their usual teacher is unavailable.
This role would suit someone with experience working with young people, as well as graduates or aspiring teachers who want to develop their classroom management and education experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise classes and ensure students complete the work provided by their teachers.
- Maintain a calm, safe and focused classroom environment.
- Follow lesson plans and school instructions effectively.
- Encourage students to remain engaged and take responsibility for their learning.
- Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
- Provide appropriate support and guidance to students during lessons.
- Take attendance and report any concerns or incidents to the relevant staff.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and the wider school team.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with children or young people is desirable.
- Confidence managing groups of secondary-aged students.
- Strong communication and classroom management skills.
- A calm, consistent and professional approach.
- The ability to follow instructions and use initiative when required.
- Good organisation and time-management skills.
- A genuine interest in education and supporting young people.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
