GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are currently seeking an enthusiastic Physical Education (PE) Teacher to work with a school in Barnsley. This opportunity would suit a teacher who can deliver purposeful lessons, encourage active participation and create a positive environment where pupils can develop their sporting and personal skills.
As a PE Teacher, you will:
- Plan and deliver engaging practical and theory-based PE lessons.
- Adapt activities to support pupils with different abilities and needs.
- Encourage teamwork, discipline and positive participation.
- Promote an understanding of physical wellbeing and healthy lifestyles.
- Monitor pupils' progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain appropriate behaviour and safety standards during practical sessions.
- Support wider sporting activities and extracurricular opportunities where required.
Requirements to be considered as a PE Teacher:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent is essential for a Physical Education Teacher role.
- Strong subject knowledge across Physical Education and relevant sporting activities.
- Previous experience teaching PE within a school setting is desirable.
- Confident classroom, behaviour and practical-session management skills.
- Ability to motivate pupils and encourage participation.
- Good communication, planning and organisational skills.
- Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
Your enthusiasm for sports and fitness can help pupils become more confident, active and willing to challenge themselves. The school is looking for someone who can make physical education both enjoyable and purposeful.
